Carlene E. Simpson

Carlene Edith Simpson, 80, passed away in her home on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 . Carlene was born May 1, 1937 in Valparaiso, IN to Carl G. and Dorthy P. (Taggart) Smith and lived in the area for 45 years, coming from Valparaiso. She was a member of the Koontz Lake Missionary Church and a retired bus driver with the Oregon-Davis School Corporation. On September 3, 1958, in Valparaiso, IN, she was married to John Simpson, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Diane Simpson of South Bend and Dorene (Rick) Dennie of North Liberty; one son, Robert (Connie) Simpson of Salt Lick, KY; five grandchildren, Shon Simpson, Sam (Jordyn) Simpson, Anna Dennie, Cameron Dennie and Allie Dennie; two great grandchildren, Dominick Byrd and Sawyer Simpson; one sister, Nancy Hussey of Augusta, GA; and one brother, David (Debbie) Smith of Chesterton. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Shirley Smith and brother-in-law, Roy Hussey. There will be a Celebration of Life Service Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) at the Koontz Lake Missionary Church. Carlene wanted a brief service followed by a time of food, fellowship and reminiscing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Koontz Lake Missionary Church. Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake is handling arrangements.
