Dr. Di Maio was my favorite professor. I took multiple classes that he instructed and enjoyed every one! He was a wonderful man. I was saddened to read of his passing.

Carlo Di Maio was a great teacher and a welcoming host. I met Lara and Irene on Delgado Drive where Carlo cooked pizza for the entire class of Italian 51 the summer of 1975. I still have my notebooks from that class because they include recipes for ricotta cheese and other dishes Il Profesore thought important to our intro to Italian! Boun viaggio, Carlo!!

Lara and family, My sincere condolences for the loss of Dr. Di Maio. I loved him from the day I met him in Classical Mythology. He was passionate about the topic and infused humor and stories that kept my Freshman mind focused on the subject at hand. He was such a pleasure to know. Love, Brenna

I worked in the Foreign Language Department at SLU for around 6 years in the early 70's and had the pleasure of being Dr. DiMaio's secretary for several of those years. He was a class act and was funny, kind and intelligent. I remember watching him type on an old manual typewriter using only 2 fingers...he was really fast! He told me that's how he typed his thesis! I was so honored that he drove to Mississippi to attend my very small wedding even though I no longer worked at SLU. I talked to him one other time after that but I remember him fondly as being one of the nicest bosses and a true gentleman.
My deepest sympathy to Lara and Mrs. DiMaio.
God Bless You Carlo Carlo,
Dr and Mrs Anthony Zuppardo

What a wonderful man, professor, ambassador to Italy for students of Study Abroad. Though I hadn't seen him in years, I feel blessed to have known him. RIP, dear Carlo.
