Carlos Raul Chavez, born September 26, 1978, in Durango, Colorado, passed away on February 24, 2026.
Carlos was raised in Farmington, New Mexico, where he attended Mesa Verde Elementary, Heights Junior High, and Living Word Christian School. Throughout his life, he carried with him the values of family and faith that shaped his early years.
Carlos is survived by his beloved daughter, Grace Rose Chavez; his mother, JoAnn Chavez; his father, Randy Chavez; and his sister, Sarah Chavez. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joe and Priscilla Manzanares, and his paternal grandparents, Abe and Patsy Chavez.
Over the years, Carlos wanted to be close to his mom and spent time in Seattle, Washington, and Kingman, Arizona, before settling in Blanco and Bloomfield, New Mexico, where he spent his final years.
Carlos had a deep love for vintage cars, the beauty of the nearby mesas, and a good serving of red chile. He will be remembered for his big smile, his generous spirit, and his constant willingness to lend a helping hand.
A celebration of life for Carlos will be held at First Baptist Church in Bloomfield, New Mexico, on March 22nd, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the FBC Bloomfield Monday Night Meal Ministry in his honor.
Carlos’s warmth, kindness, and love for his family and community will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
