Carlos Rudolf Quijano, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, joined his parents, sister, and two brothers with the Lord on May 2, 2024. Carlos was born November 4, 1932 in San Antonio and succumbed to complications from congestive heart failure.
Carlos's life was one of service and famíly. He proudly served in the Marine Corps in Korea, where he received the Purple Heart and then in the Air Force in Vietnam. His dedication to his country allowed his family to live in England, Germany, and travel to a multitude of countries in Europe. He was a dedicated father to his children, ensuring they knew the value of hard work and responsibility. He continuously went to great lengths for his children, even waiting in the rain for the bus so they could take the car. Always gifted with people, he is remembered in love by the spouses of his children and grandchildren for his sincere welcome into the family.
After retiring from military service, Carlos continued to serve the community as a biomedical technician at Santa Rosa Hospital. He was also a dedicated member of the Lion's Club, appreciating the camaraderie and opportunity to give back to his community.
Carlos was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rosa Abriz Quijano, sister Rosie Benavidez, and brothers Robert and Eddie. He is survived by his children Patricia Quijano (Jill), Christina Garcia (Greg), Carlos Quijano, Jr. (Kristel), Michael Quijano (Amanda), and Christopher Quijano (Stacy). He is also survived by grandchildren Brandon and Matthew Garcia, Alex Stockdale (Ashley), Krystina Klaussen (John), Connor (Haley), Casey, Gabrielle, and Nathaniel Quijano, Joshua Gleason, and Abbey Quijano, and great-grandchildren Jason and Jaemii Stockdale, Kaleb and Rudi Klaussen, and Kai Quijano.
In addition to his children and grandchildren, Carlos is survived by siblings Carmen Freshour, Theresa Gonzales (Julio), and Frank Quijano (Rosie). He shared a special bond and strong sense of famíly with each of his siblings, cherishing his relationships and time spent together.
Carlos's legacy of love, sacrifice, and service will live on in the hearts of his family and the many friends he made during his lifetime.

Funeral service will be held Monday, June 3rd at 9:30 a.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapel 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive. Burial at Fort Sam will immediately follow.
