Obituary
Carlos Raul Rivera, 65, of Manchester, CT passed away peacefully at home on May 27, 2023 with his wife of 30+ years, Darlene Rivera, by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Carlos attended Windsor High School and later studied at the Julia Hartt School of Music. Carlos was passionate about music and loved music from an early age. He was a very talented percussionist and composer. He played drums with The Brotherhood, Aftershock Soul Tattoo, and Rapid Transit, and many other bands. Carlos was known for his golden voice, caring heart, honesty, and sense of humor. His music and faith helped him through many journeys on life's path.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene Rivera; his daughter, Naisha Rivera Perez and her husband Zach, and grandchildren, Devin (Caitlyn), Ashton (Zachary) all of South Dakota; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Medina, grandson Cylas Vega; his son Randy, stepsons, Hector and Joseph; and many grandchildren, all of Connecticut. Also surviving are a beloved cousin, Carlos Rodriguez; father Jose E. Rivera and stepmother Molee; brother Joel, and sisters Francis and Coraly; many nieces and nephews, all of Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico; his mother Miguelina Vazquez Duggan and stepfather Matthew Duggan, brother Jose Rivera of Windsor, CT; brother Matthew Duggan and wife of Mansfield, CT; nephews Matthew and Zackary Duggan of Glastonbury, CT; and his beloved dog Charlie.
No services are planned. Memorial donations may be made to the family, c/o Mrs. D. Rivera, 5 Warren St., Manchester, CT 06040. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin is in charge of arrangements.
