Carmela Guido Obituary

Carmela "Millie" Guido

Carmela "Millie" Guido, 94, of Grayslake, IL, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025. Millie was born in Rondout, IL, in 1931, graduated from Libertyville High School, and worked as a secretary until she met her future husband, Frank. They married in 1952, and began their family in Highland Park, IL, later moving to Lake Forest, IL, to raise their four boys and live for over 50 years.

Family was the most important thing to Millie. She was a woman of quiet strength and skill. She loved being active in her boys' lives, helping with school activities and scouting. She was even known to hit a mean baseball for practice in the backyard. After raising her children, she enjoyed working at Lake Forest Jewelers for over 45 years. Millie was a devoted parishioner at the Church of St. Mary in Lake Forest, IL, and most recently at St. Mary of the Annunciation in Grayslake.

Millie was an avid gardener with two green thumbs and cherished her time spent outside. She loved her crafts, sharing her talent and creations with her friends and loved ones. Nothing could compete with Millie's cooking and baking. It was truly a gift to be sent home with leftovers. She poured her love into the people she touched and the things she created. You didn't just receive something made by hand, but you received something made from the heart.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Frank R Guido, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Frank Jr., Michael (Kathy), Mark, and Thomas (Lesley); grandchildren, Andrea, Laurel, Tessa, Kimberly (Michael), Daniel, Colin, Regina, and Grace; and newly born great-grandchild, Lily Carmela. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be available at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, at St. Joseph Church, 121 E. Maple Ave., Libertyville, IL., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, 1920 Buckley Rd., Libertyville IL.

My dear friend Millie Guido...

Growing up in Rondout together was the beginning of our memorable life-long friendship. Although at different times, we each attended the two-room, four grades per room, Rondout school. No buses. We walked 1-1/2 miles up-hill, each way, in both rain and snow.

Years later we enjoyed talking about how fortunate we were to have had our "Rondout" experiences.

As we grew up, our friendship matured. Millie married Frank, and of course, we learned to love him, as well. Together, they raised a beautiful family. In her low-key manner, she was a lady of intelligence and admired by all that knew her. She was an impeccable dresser. I never saw her go anywhere when she didn't look like the princess she was. Her smile and low sexy laugh made the sun brighter and the sky bluer.

Although we will no longer be able to sit, talk and laugh together, Millie, you will be in my heart forever. I love you!
