Obituary of Carmela T. Licetti
Carmela T. Licetti went home to be with our Lord on April 15, 2023. Born in Manhattan, New York, on February 6, 1925, the family of six children and a grandfather who lived with them later moved to Woodside Queens, where she grew up and lived near family and friends. In 1965, upon the passing of her father, she moved to Brierwood, Queens, where she lived until 2017, when she moved to New Jersey, and resided at Bridgeway Senior Care Center.
Before retiring, she worked for 30 years as an executive secretary at Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Carmela, a devout Catholic, was a communicant of our Lady, Queen of Martyrs, Catholic Church on Queens Boulevard. She loved singing in the church choir and traveling in America, Canada, and Europe, with particular emphasis on visits to Fatima in Portugal, Lourdes in France, the Vatican, and other sites in Italy. She took great pleasure in spending time with her family, nieces, and nephews. One of her favorite places was her parent's summer home on Long Island, where the whole family would gather. One of her favorite pastimes was reading and doing word puzzles.
She is remembered as someone with strong values and integrity, and deep faith in God. While she lived a humble life, she was generous to numerous charities and to her family.
Carmela was predeceased by her brother Joseph, sisters Lena, Connie, and Josephine.
She is survived by her brother, Philip Licetti of Martinsville, and many nieces and nephews in New Jersey, Long Island, NY, Virginia, California, and Florida.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ. A funeral mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Martinsville, NJ. Her interment will be held at St. John Cemetery, 80-01 Metropolitan Avenue, Queens, NY.
