Carmela Stefanelli Obituary
Connie or Mama as she was known by everyone was kind, caring, generous, loving, happy and friendly. Connie always had a smile on her face and greeted everyone with a big hello. Connie lived a beautiful life, filled with the love for a very close family.
Connie loved singing, dancing, going to parties and spending the holidays surrounded by those she loved so much. Connie's passion was cooking and baking. She valued her delicious recipes and enjoyed passing her traditions down. Connie loved sewing, knitting, and crocheting. You would find Connie making everyone blankets and scarves to keep everyone warm. Over her many years her treasured joy was babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born in Coney Island Brooklyn, NY, she met the love of her life, Philip Stefanelli. They married and moved to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, where she raised her family. Connie later moved to Old Bridge, NJ to live closer to her daughter and grandchildren.
Connie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, Philip, by her son Charles, and by her granddaughter Jennifer.
Connie is survived by her loving daughter, Mary and her son in law Bob who was a son to her, by her adored grandchildren, Lori and her husband Matthew, Scott, Tracey and her husband Don, and Jesse, by her cherished great grandchildren Gianna, Tyler, Layci, Ashley and her husband Shane, loving great great grandson Ryder, and her loving God daughter Lisa and her husband Gary. Connie was cherished by everyone who was fortunate enough to know and love her sweet nature.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday at St. Ambrose Church located at 81 Throckmorton Lane Old Bridge, New Jersey 08857. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
