Carmelita Anaya Fleming was born Wednesday, April 7, 1937 in
Lamy, New Mexico to the late Manuel and Teodorita Gonzales Anaya. She passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 in Tulsa at eighty-five years of age. Carmen was raised in New Mexico. She married David Lynn Fleming on August 4, 1978 in
Albuquerque, New Mexico. There were many things in life Carmen enjoyed, like traveling to New Mexico to visit with family and watching her grandchildren grow into young adults. She loved and enjoyed spending time with Yvette, Payton and Levi and over the past couple of years, she spent quite a bit of time with Yvette on impromptu lunch dates in which she was always smiling. Carmen leaves behind a legacy full of love, hope, and so much more. She will be deeply missed.
Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, husband David Fleming, Sr., a sister, Roseann Valdivia, a brother, Manuel (Sonny) Anaya, a Godson, Jesse Valdivia, her stepchildren, David Fleming, Jr., Alaxandria Fleming and Shannon Fleming, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Benjamin and Anna Lee Fleming and her sisters-in-law, Becky Fleming, Nettie Fleming and Barbara Bryer.
Survivors her daughter, Yvette Anaya, step-daughter, Edwina Fleming and husband Bertand Sainte-Marthe, grandchildren, Payton Anaya and Levi Anaya, step-grandchildren, Irene Sainte-Marthe Fleming, Basile Sainte-Marthe Fleming, Ryan Jones and Mackenzie Husted, a sister, Marie Garcia, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marcella Anaya, Sam Fleming, Mark Fleming, Mable Fleming, Don Fleming, Angela Carlisle, Richard Carlisle, Brenda Easley, Roy Easley, Mary Smith and Jimmy Fleming and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 2:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, February 3, 2023 at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Father Kenneth Harder officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Roach, Clinton Laughlin, Garrett Laughlin, Fred Laughlin, Mark Fleming and Ryan Jones. Dave Ramsey, Marles Howard and Don Burgess will serve as an honorary pallbearers.
