Carmelo "Carl" Joseph Guinta

1936 – 2026

Carmelo "Carl" Joseph Guinta, 89, of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026.

Born in New York City, Carl was one of three children of the late Joseph C. Guinta and Angelina Digregorio. A proud veteran, he honorably served his country during the Korean War. After returning home, he attended City College, working toward a degree in Civil Engineering.

On September 4, 1960, Carl married the love of his life, Concetta "Connie" Forte, beginning a beautiful marriage that would span more than sixty years. During this time, Carl completed his engineering degree at night while supporting Connie and their young family, working first as an engineer with the City of New York. Over the next two decades, he earned his Professional Engineer designation and served in both the City's Department of Buildings and the Comptroller's Office.

With invaluable experience and an entrepreneurial spirit, Carl later founded Skyline Fire Sprinklers and Carl Guinta Associates, businesses he proudly operated for nearly forty years alongside his children.

Outside of work, Carl enjoyed playing golf at the Forest Hills Field Club and spending time with friends over friendly card games. Most of all, he cherished time with his family-especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren-finding joy in every moment spent watching them grow.

Carl is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Concetta; his children, Joseph and his wife Brenda, Anthony, Carl and his wife Judy, Denise Freidemen and her husband Greg, and Gina; his fourteen grandchildren; and his eleven great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Barth and Marie.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Scanlan's Funeral Home in Pompton Plains, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Spirit Church in Pequannock, NJ, followed by interment at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carl's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be deeply appreciated.
