Carmen Garcia Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 19, 2026.
Carmen Delia Garcia of Boston, MA, aged 76, passed into eternity with Jesus on March 18, 2026. She was born in Catano, Puerto Rico on July 16, 1949 to her late parents Juan Garcia and Maria Suarez of Catano, P.R. In her late twenties she moved and settled in the state of Massachusetts.

Carmen, who preferred her middle name Delia, is survived by her son Marco Antonio Colon, MA and daughter Carla Ann Marrero of Quincy, MA. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Curtiss Boyd, Israel Colon, and Yaciela Colon. Carmen's relatives who settled in New Jersey were her late Aunt Carmen Victoria Harris, late Uncle Bill Harris, late cousin Jeanne Harris, along with her second cousins Wil Vecchione and his wife Lauren, and Vanessa Vecchione and her sons Brandon and Bradly Hernandez-Vecchione. She also leaves behind her life long friend, Michael Miga of Arlington, MA.

As a young child Carmen was delightfully spirited! She displayed a talent for dance at the age of two. Her parents enrolled her in a school of dance where she embraced her talent. She had a love for animals especially dogs and cats. Eventually she learned to love stu ed animals as well. In her early twenties she owned her own salon as a hair stylist. She passed on her love of the beach to her children. While the shorelines of Puerto Rico were warmer than shorelines here, she found them just as refreshing! She also had a taste for fast cars, upbeat clothes and music of all varieties, ice cream, coca-cola and pina coladas. While She was a talented cook making authentic Puerto Rican dishes, she also wasn't afraid to experiment and try new recipes.

Carmen's spirited personality was rooted in who she was not what she did. She was a woman after God's heart. Despite a life long battle with mental health issues that caused severe challenges, she deeply loved her children, planting within them seeds of the Gospel. She saw the potential for success in her children and encouraged them to pursue their goals. She also had a good sense of humor and made others laugh and smile.

Carmen will be sorely missed by her family and friends but she left behind a legacy of faith, love, and fun to remember her by when the tears fall. She is walking with Jesus free of mental health issues, free of pain and free from su ering.

Carmen's family is currently in the process of finalizing arrangements. Complete details will be forthcoming.
