Celebration of Life services for Carol Jean "CJ" Allen, 72, of Chouteau, will be held on Thursday, November 18 at 1:00 PM at Stephens-Key Chapel in Pryor with burial following at Chouteau West Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Services are under the care and direction of Stephens-Key Funeral and Cremation Care in Pryor.
Carol Jean was born on December 29, 1948 in Pryor, Oklahoma to Adair and Vivian (Boatright) Franklin. She passed away on November 13, 2021 in Tulsa at the age of 72.
Jean or "CJ", as she was known to many as, grew up and attended school in Locust Grove. She married Richard Larry Allen on March 2, 1971 in Locust Grove and the two had one daughter, Lisa. She worked briefly, for the Yarn Mill in Pryor and also Cherokee Togs but her main career was for the State of Oklahoma for over 40 years, first at Whitaker State Children's Home as a house parent, then at Eastern State in Vinita as a health aid. After retiring, she worked as a bouncer at Bertie's Bar in Chouteau, Southard Style and Lucky's in Pryor. She was a fun loving woman who loved her family and friends deeply. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing word search puzzles but most of all, she loved spending time with her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren; there was nothing or no one more important to her then them.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Pruett and husband Rick of Pryor; three grandchildren, Rachel "Kylea" Pruett of Chouteau, Jeremy Pruett and wife Candice of Pryor and Daniel Pruett and wife Meagan of Yukon; six great grandchildren, Raddley, Destiney, Kenley, Jacoby, Jason and Trayjen; five siblings, Jane Humphrey and husband Larry of Adair, Shelah Sumner and husband Harvey of Pryor, Adair Franklin and wife Louise of Chesapeake Bay, Virginia, Rick Franklin and wife Demecia of Pryor and Debbie Johnson of Pryor and three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bill and Joy Allen of North Carolina, Pat and Lamar Hilburn of North Carolina and Phillip and Geneva Allen of South Carolina. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other special family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard Allen in 2010; Adair and Vivian Franklin; brother, Kenneth Franklin and great grandson, Revver Gene Pruett.
