Carol A. Baker, 78, of Whitman, Massachusetts passed away February 1 at South Shore Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Brockton, Carol was the eldest daughter of the late Robert Baker and the late Mary (English) Baker. Carol grew up in Whitman and attended Bridgewater State College, where she earned a degree in education. She worked as a teacher in the Abington school system for more than 30 years.

In her free time, Carol enjoyed needlepoint, reading, and puzzles. She was a master at knitting and crafted beautiful sweaters for many of the babies born into her family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her great-nieces and great-nephews. She could always be counted on and was dedicated to her family above all else.

Carol is survived by her brother, Mark Baker, and sister, Janet (Baker) Robertson. She was predeceased by her brother, Jeffrey Baker. She is the sister in law of Jean (Meserve) Baker, the late Richard Robertson, and the late Carol (Fox) Baker.

She leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Jarod Baker, Jesse Baker, Corrie Brown, Courtney McCleary, Jeffrey Baker, John Baker, Richard Robertson, Joshua Robertson, Matthew Robertson, and Lauren Deluca.

Carol will be missed most by her great-nieces and great-nephews many of whom thought of her as a second grandmother. She could often be found simply watching them play, supervising hours-long swimming sessions, getting a makeover, and listening to their imaginative stories.

All services will be private.
