Carol L. DeVore

Carol L. DeVore, 81, passed away Friday, February 6, 2015 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Metamora, OH, Carol worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines from 1954 to 1956 and taught Elementary School in South Bend, IN. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Church of Christ, Longboat Key, FL, past member of Tri Kappa Sorority, the Fort Wayne Country Club, and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma at Denison University, where she graduated with a Bachelor's in Art and was the first band majorette. She was also a volunteer at The League for the Blind. Surviving are her son, Rob (Tammy) DeVore of Bradenton, FL; daughters, Amy J. Getschow and Natalie A. (John) Chapel, both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren: Nicholas and Leah Chapel and Lindsey, Alec, and Kurt Gretchow; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Asher Gretchow; and sister, Natalie Baxendale of Warren, MI. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Robert DeVore; parents, Esther and Dwight DeVerna; and sisters, Marilyn Herrmann and Joyce Rice. Funeral Service is at 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Wayne St. with calling 1 hour prior. Rev. Jeff Lehn officiating. Calling also at D.O.
