Carol Eggleston Obituary

Beloit, WI - Carol Jean Eggleston, 80, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

She was born on November 25, 1942 in Nekoosa, WI, the daughter of Darwin and Dorothy (Hill)

Smith. Carol married the love of her life, Luman "Bud" Eggleston, Sr. on October 7, 1961 in Brodhead, WI they enjoyed 62 years of marriage and they had two children together.

More than anything, Carol loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She loved going on drives and road trips with her husband, Bud, and loved both of her children deeply. Carol was an exceptional aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great aunt, who was known for never forgetting birthdays and teaching her grandchildren and great grandkids to play cards games and board games. Carol's grandchildren and great grandchildren loved staying up late and playing the games she taught them whenever they were together. Friendships were also very important to Carol, and she went to great lengths to maintain friendships with people around the nation. Among the annual traditions she loved most were making candy turtles every year with the Flynn girls and seeing old friends in Destin, FL and Tennessee. To know Carol was to love her. She was full of stories and never met a stranger. Carol loved change and was involved in the building of several homes that her and Bud lived in through the years. Carol was also a lifelong member of TOPS and would rarely miss a meeting. Carol would always find the best deals at garage sales and thrift stores and took delight in buying things she thought her family and friends would enjoy. Carol was also generous with her time, always making time to speak with her anyone who needed her, and the doors of her home were always open. She was a refuge of calm to many in their times of need and would often remind people of the simple solutions to seemingly complex life problems.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Luman "Bud" Eggleston, Sr.; son, Luman Eggleston, Jr.; daughter, Lisa-Jane Aponte (Milton); grandchildren, Lakota Eggleston, Caleb Aponte, Katie (Georges) Dumaine, Sarah-Beth (Jonathan) Robinson, Josiah (Axenia) Aponte, Isabella Aponte, Micah Aponte, and Israel Aponte; great-grandchildren, Levi (Christina) Dumaine, Nathanael, Sarah, Zoe, Zion, and Isaiah Dumaine, Charlie, Mary, and Emma Robinson, Arthur and Josiah II Aponte; great-great-grandson, Princeton Dumaine; siblings, Sara Murray, Judith Disrud, and Kathy Skala; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Terry and Pat Bates, Myra Halligan, and Florence Allen; several nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews.
