Carol Ann Eitel, of Rogers, AR, died Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Briarcliff Health Center in Greenville, TX. She was 79.
Carol was born June 26, 1946, in
New Boston, TX, to Arlie Eitel and Vera Estell Raney Eitel. She was a Logistician for the Department of the Army and a member of First Baptist Church Rogers in Rogers, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; Arlie and Vera Eitel, her sisters, Suella Rankin and Mary Nuckolls, and nephew Greg Nuckolls.
Carol grew up in
New Boston, Texas and began working at Red River Army Depot as a young adult. She took advantage of the Department of the Army Civilian Internship Program to become a Logistician Programmer and retired from the Department of Defense. After her retirement she continued working in contracting. She continued her career as Logistics Programmer, and she was fond of telling people that she "shipped things that went boom" all around the world. During her working years, she lived in Texas, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and Arkansas. She also traveled the globe in her job. She once gave a briefing to high-ranking leaders at the Pentagon, realizing only later that she did so in two different shoes!
Wherever she lived, Carol quickly made friends. She loved to visit with others and had many fun adventures with her girlfriends. Going out to lunch, riding the back roads, meeting at special places, or sitting on the back porch watching birds were her favorite activities. Oh yes; her favorite beverage was Dr. Pepper! Carol also loved children and volunteered at the church nursery. This led to many close friendships with younger families.
Her family was a great joy in her life, and she proudly told anyone who would listen all about them. She was extremely proud that both her sons served in the United States Air Force. When her grandchildren were little, they would gather at Moe Moe's for several days in the summer without their parents. Trips to the dollar store, nail salon, movies, and even Silver Dollar City were enjoyed by all and made precious memories.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rogers, AR. Wherever she lived, church and the support and fellowship it offered was always an important part of her life. Her church family in Rogers were a significant part of her life.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, J. Michael and Amy Hornbuckle of Greenville, Texas and Timothy Lynn and Brenna Hornbuckle of Benton, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Austin Hornbuckle and wife Alyssa, Leah Dunham and husband Spencer, Abigail Loftin and husband Noah and Sarah Hornbuckle, and numerous other relatives and friends.
