It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Carol Lord Evans, age 90. Affectionately known by family and friends as "Gran", she will be remembered as a woman of extraordinary faith, generosity, style and grace whose life was defined by love and service to others.
Born in Laurens County, Mrs. Evans was the daughter of the late Wilbur Iverson Lord and Flora Sapp Lord. She was a member of Dudley Baptist Church. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully surrounded by her family on November 8, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Hobert "Buddy" Engle Evans, and two brothers, Carl Lord and Hugh Lord. Survivors include her son, Burt Evans (Michelle) of Dublin, her daughter, Dawn Holley (Dennis) of Dublin, seven grandchildren, Morgan Barker (Taylor), Molly Strickland (Fisher), Jared Holley (Nikka), Taylor Holley (Kristen), Hobie Evans (Abby), Kip Evans (Sarah), Hanna Williams (Chas), and eight great grandchildren, Fisher Strickland, Collier Strickland, Grady Barker, Evelyn Evans, Wells Barker, Charlie Williams, Wren Williams and Winston Evans.
The heart of her family, Gran was a source of comfort, wisdom, and unconditional love. She poured herself into caring for others, whether volunteering her time at the VA hospital, where she brightened the days of countless veterans, or lending a helping hand and her cheerful spirit at the Freckled Frog, where she made everyone feel welcome. Her kindness and compassion touched countless lives in the community.
An avid bridge player, Gran cherished the camaraderie and challenge the game provided. She was known for her sharp mind and joyful laughter around the card table. Her love for bridge brought her joy, friendship, and a playful competitive spirit that kept her heart full.
A devoted grandmother, she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren - sharing stories, laughter, and her famous hugs, back scratches and homemade brownies that could make any worry disappear. Above all, she treasured her family and found her greatest happiness in time spent with her children and grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure.
Gran's legacy is one of service, faith, and love. She showed us, through her example, the beauty of giving freely and living fully. Though our hearts ache in her absence, we are forever grateful for the love she gave and the memories and legacy she leaves behind. Her memory will continue to inspire kindness and compassion.
A celebration of Gran's remarkable life will be held at The Holley House on Monday, November 10, 2025 from 5-7 PM. A graveside service will be held at Dublin Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family would love for everyone to write down their favorite memory of Gran and consider continuing her legacy of generosity by sponsoring a child this Christmas.
