Carol Gigliotti Obituary
Published by Legacy on Oct. 28, 2025.
Carol Ann Gigliotti (née Fynes) of Yardley, PA, passed away surrounded by her family on October 24, 2025, after a four-and-a-half-year battle with brain cancer. She was 63 years old.
She was the beloved wife of Ronald Gigliotti; selfless mother of Brittany (Nick Stumpo), Matthew (Sarah), and Michael; doting grandmother to Mia Elizabeth; cherished daughter of Thomas Fynes and the late Joan Browne Fynes; older sister of Linda Siegfried (Steven) and Catherine Opperman (Robert); aunt to many nieces and nephews; and friend to all who knew her.
Carol was born on November 7, 1960, in Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania. She attended Mount Saint Joseph Academy ('79) and Villanova University ('83). While in school, Carol was an excellent student who majored in nursing. She was a captain of her cheerleading team in high school, a member of the Pom Squad at Villanova, and a master of baton twirling.
Carol met Ron her sophomore year at Villanova. Their first date was at a movie theater on October 24, 1980, exactly 45 years before she passed. They married on June 16, 1984, and started a life together in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
As a young nurse, Carol worked full-time at Holy Redeemer Hospital while raising her children. With her caring and compassionate nature, the job came easily. As Carol's children grew older, she worked part-time in many capacities, including as a nurse at St. Andrew School and at flu-shot clinics around the area. She was an active volunteer with her children's schools, particularly St. Andrew School, Grey Nun Academy, and LaSalle College High School.
Carol was immensely proud of her three children, Brittany, Matthew, and Michael. She told all who would listen about her daughter, a hardworking attorney, and her sons who work in private equity and accounting in New York City.
Carol's friend group was second to none. She had a wide array of friends gained through her many recreational pursuits. Carol was the captain of numerous tennis teams and played doubles in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, where she competed in USTA League National Championships. For nearly 20 years, she worked out at VMS Movement in Newtown. When Carol turned 50, she motivated the VMS Movement crew to complete a Tough Mudder, a 13.1-mile obstacle course, with photos to prove it. While in her 50s, Carol captained championship Dragon Boat teams that handily beat boats filled with much younger athletes. Years later, she ran the Disney Half Marathon. Carol also enjoyed golfing with the Ladies 9-Holers at the Union League Golf Club at Torresdale.
After her February 2021 glioblastoma diagnosis, Carol did not let brain cancer slow her down. Determined to be the exception to an otherwise devastating illness, she continued working out multiple days per week; traveled to Spain to visit her son Michael who was studying abroad; planned multiple excursions with her daughter such as apple picking and "painting with goats"; and made countless trips to her home in Ocean City, NJ with her family. Carol beamed with pride when her first grandchild, Mia, was born in October 2024, and she relished her time as "CG."
Carol was devoted to her faith and trusted in God's plan for her. Her sense of humor and vibrant spirit will be missed immensely, but she will forever live on in her family.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA, 18940. The viewing will begin at 10:30am, followed by Words of Remembrance at 12:15pm, and a Funeral Mass at 12:30pm. Her internment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carol's memory may be made to StacheStrong at http://stachestrong.org/donate in support of brain cancer research.
