Carol Jean Gutiérrez, 75, of Canadian, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 in Canadian.

Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM and a memorial mass will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Canadian Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Marco Gonzalez, Parochial Administrator, officiating. Inurnment will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Viewing will be on Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 12:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Carol was born October 24, 1950 in Canadian to Harold and Wanda Chaffin. She has been a lifelong resident of Canadian. On December 26, 1970, she married Joe J. Gutiérrez. They celebrated almost 54 years before he passed away on November 27, 2024. Carol worked at Edward Abraham Memorial Home for over 30 years as a nursing assistant. She loved her job and the relationships she made over the years.

Carol was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Canadian for over 50 years, where she served faithfully. She enjoyed reading in her spare time and socializing with her family and friends. Her joy showed through her beautiful smile. Carol had a great sense of humor and a loving heart.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leslie Don Chaffin and Larry Wayne Chaffin.

Survivors include her three sons, Jose Gutierez, John Paul Gutiérrez both of Canadian, Andrew Gutiérrez of San Antonio; four daughters, Carmen Gutiérrez Coyne and husband Martin, their children Anais and Jack of Mansfield, Teresa Gutiérrez and children Amalia Gutiérrez and Tristan Gutiérrez of Euless, Anna Stewart and husband Chad their children Eva and Ivy Stewart of Amarillo, Olivia Gutiérrez Miles and husband Ryan, their children George and Arthur Miles of Lewisville; two sisters, Donna Ann Carter and Charlene Sue Segovia; and a brother, Jimmy Chaffin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
