Carol J. (Leach) Hunter, 74, of Centerville, died December 26, 2024, at Ohio's Hospice of Dayton after a lengthy illness. In her professional life, Carol was a nurse, most recently serving as a psychiatric nurse at the Warren Correctional Institute for 20+ years. In her career, she also worked at St. Josephs and Montgomery County Public Health. Most notably, Carol was a volunteer first responder with the Red Cross in New York in the days following 9/11. She was a 1968 graduate of Springboro High School and obtained a nursing degree from Miami University. 

Carol is survived by two children: Heather (Yaple) Moore, of Springboro, and Bradley Yaple (Jen) of Centerville; a grandson, Aleister Moore, of Springboro; three brothers, James Leach of Columbus, John Leach (Jan) of Akron, and Joseph Leach of Kettering; four nieces (Cara, Molly, Natalie, and Monica) and one nephew (Joseph); and numerous cousins and friends. She was the daughter of Raymond and Fairy Leach of Springboro. 

A visitation will be held Saturday, January 18, from 12:00PM until the time of the memorial service at 2:00PM at Newcomer Funeral Home Centerville - 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, OH 45459.
