Carol Lee (Hill) Jameson (83) passed from this life into the loving arms of Jesus Christ her Savior on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Carol was born to John Walter and Lillian B. (Frizell) Hill February 5, 1942 on their Dairy farm in Falfa, Colorado on the Florida Mesa. As a girl, she was active on 4-H and Rainbow Girls.
Carol graduated from the old Durango Senior High School on 2nd Avenue in 1960. She was part of the first four-year graduating class at Fort Lewis A&M with a degree in Education. She married her high school sweetheart Reid L. Jameson on May 21, 1964. When Reid was drafted and deployed to Vietnam with the Seabees, she completed her Master's degree in Education at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. She taught 2nd grade at Riverview Elementary. After Reid returned from war, Carol camped out with her husband on weekends as he surveyed all over the San Juan Mountains and Four Corners area with the Bureau of Reclamation and US Forest Service.
In 1971, they started Cash Sales Company, hauling building materials; building and remodeling houses; the Powder Keg Restaurant; and eventually Pine River Carwashes and Mini-Storage with their children.
Carol was a member of Florida Presbyterian Church, founding member of Florida Baptist Mission, and founding member of Florida Baptist Church. Carol was her daughter’s Girl Scout leader and the Snack Lady for her granddaughter’s Girl Scout Troop. She traveled to Girl Scout meetings in Mexico, Canada, New Zealand and Iceland. She traveled to Swaziland on a mission trip with Kudvumisa Foundation and visited her World Vision sponsor child in Lesotho, South Africa.
She delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; growing flowers and houseplants; her feral cats, wild birds and backyard deer; sending birthday cards and writing letters; and cooking for church fellowship.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reid Jameson; parents Walter and Lillian Hill; and sister Laverna Sullenberger. She is survived by her brother, Leland (Lola) Hill; children, Katrina Jameson and Shawn (Tiffany) Jameson; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 11:00 am at Florida Baptist Church, 30296 US Hwy 160, Durango, Colorado with food and fellowship after the service.
