Cousin Carol was my family's first baby sitter. My father, Paul Hirst and mother Gertrude were very close to his brother, Carl and wife Helen. We had family gatherings with them at their home in Mattapoisett. Carol and her brother David would set up treasure hunts for my brother, Paul sister, Harriet and me at tin can island in Mattapoisett. I was able to re-connect with Carol several times in the past at her cousin's (David and wife Sally Ahern) home in Greenfield. Carol was loving and loved, and she will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
