Carol A. Kunes, 77, of Bennington, NY, entered into rest peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at the Crossroads Hospice House in Batavia.
Born January 21, 1948 in Medina, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Florence (Nowak) Waszak. She was a graduate of Medina High School, Class of 1965. Carol married the late Martin S. Kunes on November 11, 1967. Together they raised a family of three children. A Registered Nurse by trade, Carol worked for the United Memorial Medical Center and lastly for the Attica Correctional Facility. In her spare time, Carol enjoyed reading.
She was predeceased by both parents; her husband, Martin Kunes in 2025; brother, Richard Waszak in 2012; and sister, Kathleen Beecher in 2011.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Daniel Kunes, Thomas Kunes and Julie (Daniel) Kelsey; four grandchildren, Hannah Kunes, Alex Kunes, Jacob Kelsey and Matthew Kelsey; brother, Thomas (Ann Marie) Waszak; several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside committal will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Medina at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Crossroads House at www.crossroadshouse.com/donate , or PO Box 403, Batavia, NY 14021. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
