Carol MacMullin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nichols Funeral Home - Wilmington on Apr. 19, 2025.
Carol J. MacMullin (Woodside), age 86, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Carol was born in Melrose, MA, on June 20, 1938; she was the cherished daughter of the late Alva "Mel" and Lillian (Silvey) Woodside.
Carol attended Melrose public schools and graduated from Melrose High School class of '56. Carol attended and graduated from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. Carol was one of six women to graduate in the class of 1960. As a registered Pharmacist, Carol worked in her father's drug store, Wilmington Center Pharmacy, as well as Village Apothecary in Billerica, North Wilmington Pharmacy and Menotomy Pharmacy in Arlington, MA. Carol was a soft-spoken woman who was a good listener. Customers would always wait to talk to her, she knew on many occasions she would be the only person that the customer might speak to that day.
Carol met her husband Paul at Wilmington Center Pharmacy, where they both worked. Paul and Carol moved to Wilmington in 1963, where they would raise their family. Carol was involved in and sat on the Board of Directors for the Wilmington Regional Health Center where her mother Lillian Woodside was active and for whom the center was dedicated.
Carol was very involved with her nine grandchildren attending sports events, special occasions, milestones/graduations from schools and colleges. Carol enjoyed vacationing every summer at Weirs Beach in New Hampshire.
Carol was the beloved wife of the late Paul T. MacMullin, Sr., devoted mother of Paul T. MacMullin, Jr. of Wilmington, Steven MacMullin and his wife Alison of Haverhill, Denise DiCiaccio and her husband Andrew of Tewksbury, and David MacMullin of Derry, NH. Loving "Nana" of Glen MacMullin and his wife Tori, Tara O'Donnell and her husband Sean, Paul MacMullin and his wife Zoe, Evan MacMullin and his wife Kayla, Alec DiCiaccio and his wife Brianna, Andrea DiCiaccio, Aaron MacMullin, Adam DiCiaccio, Eric MacMullin, and great-granddaughter Sylvia O'Donnell. Dear sister of the late Leo Woodside. Carol is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Family and friends may gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Sunday, April 27th from 2:00-5:00 p.m. All are welcome to gather at the Funeral Home on Monday, April 28th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.

Dear family of such a wonderful person as Carol. I have so many cherished memories of Carol: i.e. In 1960 walking from Salem Street to the Pharmacy where she worked. I took my infant son Philip there in a stroller with a neighbor of ours, sat at the bright red stools, ate our delicious ice cream, spoke to Carol and many customers and shared so many stories.

Lars Neilson, then owner of the Town Crier which was more like an editorial than a news paper shared many of the local news to keep us updated about their comings and goings which could be very comical too!

Lars would also visit us at our house on Saturday mornings, be paid for our newspaper, a visit which was a weekly treat for my husband Richard (Dick) and I. Some of his stories were not only heart-warming but at timess, not only true but enlightening.

With love, sincere and deep sympathy for your loss.
