Carol Janice McNeil, a loving and faith-filled soul, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, at the age of 78 in Hinsdale, Illinois. Born in Chicago on October 22, 1947, to the late Robert and Dorothy Drake, Carol's life was a testament to her thoughtful nature and unwavering commitment to her family, friends, and faith.

Carol's devotion to her late husband, Richard F. McNeil, was the foundation of a family that would grow to include their cherished children, Timothy Richard McNeil and Patricia Carol Belec, (Jason Belec) and their beloved grandchildren, Ashley Belec, Sara Belec, Molly McNeil, and Liam McNeil. Her brother, Steven (Gail) Drake, and their children and grandchildren, also survive her. Together, they shared countless memories that will be treasured forever.

For over 30 years, Carol served as a secretary at the First United Methodist Church of Westmont, where she was a cornerstone of the community. Her work was more than a job; it was a calling that allowed her to touch the lives of many, offering support and kindness to anyone in need. Carol's Christian faith was the guiding light of her life, and she was an active member of her church, The Grove (formerly Downers Grove Community Church), where she exemplified the love and grace of her beliefs.

Traveling, especially cruising to new and exciting places, brought great joy to Carol, but nothing compared to the happiness she found in the company of her grandchildren. She was the quintessential hostess, always ready to welcome family and friends into her home for holiday events, ensuring that every gathering was filled with laughter, love, and, of course, her famous snacks, cake, and candy.

Carol's lake house in Michigan was a haven of relaxation and joy for her and all who visited. Many of her family's most cherished moments were spent there, surrounded by nature and the warmth of Carol's hospitality.

Those who knew Carol will remember her for her loving nature and the thoughtful way she approached life. Her legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and a deep-seated belief in the goodness of people. Carol's presence was a gift to all who had the pleasure of knowing her, and her memory will continue to inspire and comfort those she has left behind.

As we bid farewell to Carol Janice McNeil, we reflect on a life well-lived, full of purpose and love. Her spirit will forever be a beacon of light for her family, guiding them with the same compassion and wisdom she shared so generously in life. Though she will be deeply missed, the impact of her love will never fade.

In honor of Carol's life, a visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 9:00 am – 11:00 am at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien. A service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 am followed by a procession to Clarendon Hills Cemetery for burial services.
