So sorry for your loss. Carol was an outstanding colleague in our teaching profession. She was always so helpful and expressed such warmth to her students as well as to her friends. My son had Mrs. Mislan as his fourth grade teacher and loved being in her class.
She will be missed.

I am Carol’s niece. It has been the highest privilege and honor of my lifetime to have known my Aunt Carol.
She encouraged me when I decided to become a a Register Nurse. She encouraged me when I then decided to become a a Lawyer. If it wasn’t for my Aunt Carol, I might not have had the career I have had as a Medical Malpractice Attorney.
Although my Aunt Carol had 11 other nieces and nephews, she kept in touch with me. She always remembered my birthday. She’d call me immediately if Houston had severe weather to be sure I was ok.
She was a mentor for me. Her wisdom and advice to me were very valuable.
After she retired from a stellar Teaching Career, she did Volunteer Work at St. Lawrence Rehab Center. She continued her weekly Bridge Games. She was a Daily Communicant, and her strong Faith was rock solid. Her generous kindness and love shown for others modeled authentic true Christianity.
Her hospitality was outstanding. My brother who lives in Ohio had a business trip to nearby Aunt Carol’s house in New Jersey. She insisted he cancel his hotel reservations and instead stay at her home; she treated him like a king. She welcomed all her family members into her home with open arms where she’d give them a place to sleep and cooked good food for them.
She added value to the world. She had deep inner qualities of integrity, empathy, intelligence and resilience. She lived by strong values and through her actions she inspired others. Her capability, character, practical action, strength, purposeful living, courageousness was amazing. It was the highest privilege and honor of my lifetime to have known my Aunt Carol Mislan. —Carol Layman in Houston

To know Nana (as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren) was to love her. She emanated warmth, positivity and gratitude to every person (and every being, especially dogs) that she met. She was a welcoming hostess, from organizing extended family Thanksgivings to conducting her daily ritual of feeding the squirrels peanuts on her back stoop. We are blessed to have had her in our lives for as long as we did, and I'm so grateful my girls were able to know her love.

Mrs. Mislan was my 4th grade teacher many many years ago at Antheil. She was so warm, kind and supportive. She was a wonderful teacher and I loved having her.
At Christmas time I remember her husband cut pieces of logs for each student to make a Yule log.
Sounds like she continued to have a beautiful long life. Cherish your memories.
