Carol Mullins Obituary

BRISTOL

Carol (Degnan) Mullins, 95, of Bristol, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025. She was born in Southington, Connecticut, daughter of the late John and Esther (Nelson) Degnan. Carol was married for over 60 years to the late Francis W. Mullins, who passed in 2014. They resided in Bristol where they raised their five children. Carol attended Bingham Elementary School and graduated from Bristol High School and was voted "Best Personality." Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an administrative assistant at Counseling Affiliates in Farmington, Connecticut where the late Dr. Jack Werboff once quipped that when patients came to the office and met Carol "therapy begins as soon as they walk in the door." She was a long-time parishioner of St. Matthew Church, a member of the Ladies Guild, and active in civic affairs including the Junior Women's Club, the American Legion, and Meals on Wheels. Carol is survived by her children Brian Mullins and his wife Donna, Scott Mullins, Daniel Mullins, Mitchel Mullins, Tracy Root and her husband Rob; grandchildren Melissa Patterson (Matthew), Andrea Emmert (William), Nicholas Mullins (Jill), Christopher Mullins, Gregory Mullins (Danielle), Meghan Root, and Benjamin Root; sister-in-law Charline Degnan; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Carol is predeceased by her granddaughter Hayley Mullins and siblings Marion Giovinazzo, Dorothy (Sejerman) Cascone, John "Jack" Degnan, and Robert "Knobby" Degnan. All of Carol's family extends heartfelt appreciation for the loving care and assistance offered day and night by Tyson Belanger and the staff at Shady Oaks in Bristol and a special thank you to Chelsea, Chaplain Michael, and all the caring professionals from Vitas Hospice Care. Words cannot fully express our gratitude. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, directly at St. Matthew Church, 120 Church St., Bristol at 9:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit Carol's tribute page at www.OBrien-FuneralHome.com.
