Carol Newton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Langeland Family Funeral Homes - Westside Chapel - Kalamazoo on Mar. 20, 2024.

Carol Ann Newton, 77 of Richland, passed away peacefully at Rose Arbor on March 18, 2024. She was born on November 11, 1946, to Wayne and Irene (Kooyers) Wood in Detroit, MI.

Carol graduated from Parchment High School in 1964 where she was involved in band and student council.   Her administrative career expanded over many decades as a secretary, retiring from William R. Biggs/Gilmore Associates.

Carol loved to explore the various beaches along Lake Michigan, with some of her favorite spots being Ludington and Pentwater.  She was an avid gardener who enjoyed planting, harvesting and canning vegetables.   She had a love of flowers, bird watching, garage sales, arts, and crafts, sewing, camping, and Nascar.

Two of Carol’s most beloved companions were her dog Ruby and cat Pippi. She enjoyed teaching Ruby new tricks and going to the park to play ball. Carol loved desserts almost as much as she loved her pets, any kind of sweet would do, but she especially enjoyed banana split cake, apple pie and ice cream.

Above all, what Carol cherished the most was spending time with family, friends, and neighbors.

Carol is survived by her daughters Christine (Troy) Tuckey and Marce (Mark) Wright; stepsons Eric Newton, Keith (Jennifer) Newton; 5 grandchildren Broddy (Brianna) Wright, Jacob Merriam, Maisy, Ellie, Samuel Newton; 1 great-granddaughter Ellie Wright; siblings Thomas (Karri) Wood, Timothy (Jamie) Wood, and Linda Wood; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Irene Wood.

Memorial services for Carol will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Langeland Family Funeral Home 3926 S. 9th St. Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
