August 13, 1936 – December 5, 2025
Carol Nielsen, age 89, passed peacefully in Bakersfield on December 5, 2025 after a short hospital stay.
Carol was born and raised in Oshkosh, Wisconsin where she met the love of her life, Burleigh. She was always by her husband 's side while he was in the Air Force and later with Shell Oil Company. They traveled extensively due to his employment living in Louisiana, Florida, England, New Mexico, Alaska, Oregon finally settling in California. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her family while in Alaska and sometimes golfing when in retirement. She was a long-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she had many friends who became family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Edna Meyer of Oshkosh, WI and her husband of 64 years, Burleigh Nielsen. Survived by her daughters Sherri Crocker of Anchorage, AK and Nikki Nielsen of Honolulu, HI, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Viewing is Monday, December 22 - 10am to 12noon at Mission Family Mortuary, 531 California Ave, 93304. Followed by burial at National Memorial Cemetery.
