Carol Patterson Obituary

PATTERSON, Carol A.

Carol A. Patterson, 80, of Springfield, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 1, 2025. She was born on November 17, 1944, in Dayton, the daughter of the late John Daniel and Willie Pauline (Fletcher) Jaques. Carol spent most of her working career passionate in floral design working for Ulery's Greenhouse and Schneider's Florist touching the hearts of the girls she worked so close with, where her love for flowers and beauty touched many lives. She found joy in God's creation-ocean waves, waterfalls, flower gardens, birds (especially hummingbirds), and feeding fish in the pond. Whether fishing, camping, or enjoying a quiet evening sunset, Carol cherished the simple blessings of life. Above all else, Carol's heart belonged to her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 61 years, Jim, and their life together was marked by faith, laughter, and the kind of partnership that set a steady example for their children and grandchildren. She was a loving mother who guided her children with patience and prayer, teaching them the importance of faith, kindness, and perseverance. Her nine grandchildren were her pride and joy, each one held close in her heart. She celebrated their achievements, encouraged their dreams, and left them with memories of a grandmother whose love was unwavering. Her two great-grandsons brought her immeasurable joy, and she delighted in watching the next generation of her family grow. Carol also treasured the bond she shared with her siblings, nieces, and nephews. She was the glue that brought family together-holidays, birthdays, and everyday moments were brighter because of her presence. Her "girl trips" with her daughter Sheri became a treasured tradition filled with shopping, laughter, and heartfelt talks. These special times reflected the closeness she cultivated with each of her children in their own unique ways. She is survived by her husband, Jim; her four children: James Michael (Sheila) Patterson, Sheri Lynn (Tony) Lingo, John Daniel Patterson, and Brian Scott (Laura) Patterson; her brother, Ronald Lee (Jean) Jaques; nine grandchildren: Dalton (Natalie), Breanne, Darian (Tony), Grace, Cameron, Justin, Logan, Kylee, and Lelah; and two great-grandchildren: Milo and Mason. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who adored her. Carol was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny and Jerry. A service celebrating Carol's life will be held on Friday, September 5th at 12:00 p.m. at Southgate Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Winters officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Carol's life was one of devotion-to her Lord, to her family, and to the many friends who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
