Carol Luckey Obituary

Carol Ray Millsaps Luckey

Born: March 26, 1945 | Died: December 22, 2025

Carol Ray Millsaps Luckey passed over the rainbow bridge December 22, 2025 from the Maryville home she built on the family farm. Carol Ray was born March 26, 1945, and was preceded in death by her parents Ray S. Millsaps and Pauline C. Millsaps, youngest brother Phillip E. Millsaps, a Vietnam veteran, and her beloved son Thomas Millsaps Luckey, a U.S. Air Force veteran, who was always in her thoughts since his passing in 2017.

Carol is survived by beloved son Lance E. Luckey, his wife Adrienne Stein, and her "special one and only" granddaughter Alina S. Luckey, who live in New York City. Carol is survived by sister Judith "Judy" Millsaps Humphreys, brothers Richard Stephen "Steve" Millsaps and William Thomas "Tom" Millsaps, his wife Donna Millsaps, and sister-in-law June Millsaps, all residents of Blount County, her extended Millsaps and Young families, her deeply devoted nephew Bradley "Brad" Ray Shore, and many other beloved nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Carol is also survived by former husband Clarence E. "Gene" Luckey, his wife Nancy Shaidnagle, and his extended family in Humboldt and other parts of Tennessee.

Carol graduated from Everett High School, class of 1963, and sent herself through college while living and raising her sons, mostly in Cincinnati, where she attended Xavier University. After returning home Carol attended Maryville College, completing her Bachelor of Arts in Religion in 1993, as well as graduate courses in Chaplain Studies. Carol volunteered for several organizations, and especially loved her time as a volunteer chaplain at Baptist Memorial in Knoxville.

Carol was an avid reader, gardner, seamstress, baker and writer/humorist who was published in several magazines. She adored her dogs and cats, especially longtime companion Alfie, her beloved Sheltie. Carol was a devout Christian and member of New Providence Presbyterian Church, where donations may be made in her memory.
