So surprised to read of Carol's passing since I just talked to her late this summer or early fall when she was walking with John on 104th Street. I have fond memories of Carol dating back to the late 60's when I worked her at Holland Family Medicine and later at Holland Home Care. Carol was always full of energy and always had new ideas and thoughts of how to have fun. What a treat she was to know and love! She told me when I saw her that she had cancer but felt really quite well. Oh the pain of loosing someone so very young and vibrant! I would love to talk to a member of the family. Love, Judy Alderink

Dear Kari and family: I am very sorry for your loss. Through working with Kari, I was able to learn what a wonderful woman and mother Carol was and will continue to keep all of you in my prayers. May God's grace surround you in His Love.

My earliest memories of Carol date back to the late '70s when she was a nurse at Holland Family Medicine where I was a young patient and she was Dr. Derks' nurse. Carol was loving, caring and ohhhhhh sooooo incredibly patient. When my father battled M.S., Carol would go above and beyond to be certain he was well cared for in that office, which was like a second home for our family. A few years later, I finished my training and was hired by Holland Family Medicine - which gave me the joy and privilege of working alongside of Carol. I quickly learned what an incredible woman she was!! She was a highly respected nurse, a great mentor, a strong woman of faith, a great friend, and one who always had a constant smile on her face! As if that wasn't enough, Carol was also a devoted wife and busy mom to the daughters she adored more than life!
Over the years, whenever I bumped into her at the hospital or around town, Carol was always quick to ask about my family or my career - with that beautiful smile on her face and twinkle in her eye. What a blessing she was to all who were lucky enough to know her!
My heartfelt sympathy and prayers to the entire Reck family... May God provide a ministry of His love to you through the words, deeds, and hugs from those surrounding you at this time. May His divine peace rest deeply within your hearts to comfort you in ways that only He can.

I worked at Holland Hospital as RN with Carol and she helped trained me when I first started. She was soft spoken and kind to me and I am deeply sadden and she will be missed. But I so believe God had a calling on her life. My prayers are with the family that God will comfort you during your grief.

We had just started to get to know Carol and John as our neighbors and Bridgewater Association members. We felt an immediate friendship towards them. I loved watching Carol with all her little ones playing by the lake with fishing nets in hand. She was like a mother duck with all her little duckings. I'm so sorry that we didn't a chance to spend more time getting to know each other better.
We offer our deepest condolences to all her family.

Carol was our glue in a circle of friends .... Always making a point to gather for lunch as friends, then friends with children, then as we continued on in life! Sometimes even included our mothers! Always easy to be with, big or small adventure, she was willing. Will miss her calls, "hey, this this Carol ..."

I knew Carol since she was a young girl, having attended Harlem Reformed Church with her family. She was one of the sweetest people you could ever meet. Her pure heart and tender spirit touched everyone she knew. She was in the same grade as my sister, Evonne De Vries, and was in Sunday School with her when she died in 1968. Although still in high school, Carol and her friends ministered to our family through the years as we grieved the death of our dear sister Evonne. My mom always loved seeing the Harlem girls and would keep me up-to-date on Carol's health even after I moved to Idaho. Carol will be missed dearly by her family and her many friends. We will hold you close in prayer as you face these difficult days and months ahead.

Carol was a very special friends to me We worked together in endo PAT for many years. She was witty, funny, smart, kind, and a bit sassy Her and I had many great days. We'd talk, laugh, cry She always had good advice and I used to call her my work mom and teased her that technically she could be my mom She bragged about her kids and her grandkids and how wonderful they were and how much she enjoyed spending time with them She always looked forward to having her days with them. She was truly a gift to me. Thank you Carol for loving me. Good night my friend. I'll see you soon❤
