Carol Judith Rule (Lahti)

Carol Judith Rule (Lahti), age 85, passed away suddenly on October 15, 2025, becoming one of God's leading angels now.

Born on September 2, 1940, in Virginia, Minn. Carol went to Cherry High School where she met her husband, Neil Rule. They were married for 60 years prior to Neil's passing in 2020.

Carol was known for her big heart and bright smile and she loved people from every walk of life. She was impossible not to love. Throughout her life she enjoyed reading books and being part of a book club, her membership at Zion Lutheran Church, a good restaurant with one of her many friends, and photographing her family and her adventures through the years. She was a big Minnesota sports fan and a great cook who loved to feed family and friends. Her grandparents were from Finland, and she was the last 100% Fin in the family. Family was her biggest priority next to God. She loved her leading role as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother and her family adored their precious matriarch.

Out of high school she went to school to be a Lab tech. For the majority of her life, she was head Homemaker. She worked as an Aid for many years in the Cloquet schools, patiently working with youth with disabilities. Carol volunteered and was an active member at Zion Lutheran Church. Interfaith Care Center gave her an assignment to their board, though she thought she wasn't qualified-they knew better.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Neil; parents, Eino and Alice Lahti; brother, Howard; niece, Kristin Lahti; sister-in-law, Carla.

She is survived by children, Russ (Ann) Rule, Denise (Barry) Sartor, Dennis Rule; grandchildren, Tasheana, Jeremiah (Cedar), Cole, and Olivia; four great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jolana, Benson, Lucas and Amiyah; sister-in-law Jodie; and niece, Jolleen (Kurt) Brawley; brother-in-law, Keith Rule, Clifford (Vira) Rule, Vernon (Candy) Rule.

Services for Carol will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Monday, November 10, 2025 in Cloquet. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the 11:00 a.m. memorial service and lunch to follow. Inurnment will be held at Forbes Cemetery on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. The family requests flower memorials to be ordered from The Green House in Carlton (210 6th St., Carlton, MN 55718).
