Publish in a newspaper

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mrs. Carol Joy (Minnick) Sekel. Mrs. Sekel, 82, passed from this life into her Lord's arms, early the morning of Tuesday, November 11th.
Born on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 1942 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter to the late Stephen Minnick, Margaret (Lehet) Minnick-Kerestes and George Kerestes.
Educated in the local schools she was a 1960 graduate of the former Wilkes-Barre Township Memorial High School.
Previously a dedicated sales associate, Carol was well-known for her warm spirit and genuine compassion. She proudly made her mark in the cosmetics departments of several prominent area department stores, including Isaac Long's, Lazaurs, Pomeroy's, and the Bon Ton. With each encounter, she greeted her customers with a bright smile and an unparalleled commitment to enhancing their self-esteem. Carol had a unique talent for suggesting shades that complemented her customers' individual beauty, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
She was a lifelong and devoted member of Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Wilkes-Barre. Here she held membership in the Dorcas Guild and sang in the church choir. She and her late husband Dan, for several years coordinated the annual church picnic at the congregation's grove in Nuangola.
Her greatest joys were being a loving and devoted wife, mother and Nana to her adoring family. She will be greatly missed not only by her family but by the countless people she touched in this life.
May she rest peacefully now in the joy of Our Lord.
Mrs. Sekel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. Daniel L. Sekel on March 26. 2013. At the time of Mr. Sekel's passing, the couple shared forty-eight years of married life together. She also bid farewell to her parents and an infant sister, Sandra Lee Minnick.
Left to cherish all the wonderful memories they keep of her are her children, Daniel L. Sekel Jr. and his wife Gayle of Harding and Carrie Massaker and her husband James of Forty-Fort. Grandchildren; including Danielle and Olivia Sekel; Sarah, Erik, Neil Massaker; Siblings, Mrs. Lois Gelatko of Wilkes-Barre; Mr. George Jr. and Mrs. Beverly Kerestes of Forty-Fort; Several generations of nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sekel will be conducted on Saturday, November 15 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 667 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Peter J. Haenftling, pastor will serve as celebrant. Interment will be next to her husband in Saint Matthew Lawn section of Fern Knoll Burial Park, Midland Avenue, Dallas.
Relatives and friends may join the Sekel family for visitation and shared remembrances directly at church Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of floral tributes, the family would be honored if donors might consider a contribution to Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church Operating fund, 663 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705 or in honor of Carol's love for her cats to Whisker's World Rescue Mission, 65 Elizabeth Street, Forty-Fort, PA 18704.
