Death Notice

Carol Marie Short

1953 - 2022

Carol Marie Short, 69, of Hillsboro, WI, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hillsboro, WI. Carol was born June 25, 1953, to Selmer Larson and Gertrude Zenner.
On December 23, 1971, she married Martin Short, who she had five children and later was blessed with four grandchildren.
Carol was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She had a heart of gold. She meant well and was very sweet and honest. Carol would always try to help and always had time for you.
She loved music. Two of her favorite singers were Elvis Presley and Loretta Lynn. The one song from Loretta Lynn that she loved was, "My Angel Mother." Some of the TV shows she enjoyed watching were, "I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, and Hawaii Five O." She enjoyed doing word find and word search puzzles. Carol was an animal lover and loved spending time with her favorite cat, Goldie. She always had a love for lighthouses and animal print designs. It was rare to ever see her wearing clothes that didn't have some kind of animal print. In the summer Carol enjoyed spending time in the garden. She loved going through the strawberry patch to find good ripe strawberries, and when she would find the first ripe tomato of the season it would immediately be made into a tomato sandwich.
Carol is survived by her husband, Martin; children, Charlie, Lorna (Tom) Lueck, Randy, Gary and Connie (fiancé, Mike Kohlhorst); grandchildren, Damian Short, Samantha Short, Aaron Lueck, and Dylon Lueck. Carol will be loved and missed by many; but mostly by her family who all loved her very much.
Carol is now with her son Randy, who passed away in August of 1991; also a baby, William David; and her parents who also preceded Carol in death.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 7, 2022, 12:00 PM at the Torkelson Funeral Home, 720 Wisconsin St., Cashton, WI. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
