Carol Sue Ray Sizemore, age 75, of Swords Creek, VA, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at her home.

Carol was born on October 11, 1950, in Russell County, VA, to the late Dawson Ray and Ethel Herndon Ray. After graduating high school, Carol went on to become a CNA. She had made her home in the Tazewell and Russell County area her entire life. She was a 1969 graduate of Honaker High School. She worked at Clinch Valley Medical Center for 30 years and at Mattie Williams Hospital for 5 years. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Faye Brown and Glenda Sizemore; and brother Larry Ray.

Carol is survived by:

Sister, Gay Matney of NC

Brother, Jimmy Ray and wife, Phyllis of Swords Creek, VA

Special brother-in-law, Bill Sizemore

Nephew, Vincent Sizemore

Several nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Carol Sue Sizemore will be conducted on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, VA with the Rev. Virgil Musick officiating. Burial will follow at Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, VA. Pallbearers will be DJ Rickman, Vincent Sizemore, Gary Sizemore, Larry Sizemore, Dalton Sizemore, Dwayne Whited, and Gary "Fuzz" Fields. Friends may visit with the family on Monday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands is in charge of arrangements, and those wishing to express sympathy online may do so at www.hurstscottfuneralhomes.com
