Carol Solstad Obituary
Carol Solstad was born in Kansas City Missouri July 2, 1942 to Norman Youkey and Lydia Morong. They moved to San Diego in 1956 and Carol graduated from La Jolla High School 1960. She married Allan Solstad on April 14, 1973. They lived in San Diego until the family moved to Sandpoint Idaho in 1978. In 1988 Carol went to nursing school at Lewis & Clark College and there received her B.S. in Nursing. In 1993 Carol and Alan moved to Chehalis Washington.
Both Carol and Allan retired and bought a truck, 5th wheel trail and headed for the East Coast. Both got the travel bug and spent the next 10 years on the road with larger and larger rigs until they ended up with a BIG Chevy diesel and a 38-foot trailer. When Allan could no longer travel, they ended up in Sun City. At the urging of friends they bought a condo on Thunderbird Blvd. Carol was involved with stiches, coffee chat, bible studies but her heart of hearts was 100% for Samaritans Purse of which she was the chairperson.
Carol is survived by her Husband Allan Solstad, Brother Jonny Youkey of Yuma AZ, Brother Fran Youkey of Woodland WA, Daughter Michelle Alverez of San Diego CA, Son Dale Driggs, Daughter April Mc Gowan of Newberg OR, 6 Grandchildren, 7 Great grandchildren, 1 & 1/2 Great-Great grandchildren.
Carol is preceded in death by her Father Norman Youkey, Mother Lydia Morong and her Brother Charlie Youkey.
