Carol Thimjon, a beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted friend, passed away on December 3, 2025, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. She was born on January 26, 1944, in Breckenridge, MN, to Reuben and Lenore (Dammann) Bladow. From the very start, Carol was a shining light to all who were lucky enough to know her.
Graduating from Wahpeton High School in 1962 and furthering her studies at NDSCS, Carol cultivated a rich life filled with dedication and warmth. Most notably, she found her true purpose in raising her sons, Troy and Jay, and managing the family farm alongside her late husband, Duane. Their marriage on August 15, 1964, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton was a testament to a loving partnership that would last a lifetime. Together they worked side by side, embodying the spirit of farming, and instilling values in their sons who now stand as the fifth generation in their family farming tradition.
Those who were fortunate enough to spend time with Carol will always remember the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures. Whether it was summers spent at Ottertail Lake or winters basking in the sun in Arizona, she truly cherished her time with family. Carol had an infectious enthusiasm for life, evident in her love for golf, bowling, Mahjong, and card games that always brought people together. Her personality was framed by her punctuality, as she believed in valuing time—both her own and those of others.
Carol is lovingly remembered by her sons, Troy (Darla) and Jay (Andrea), who have carried forward her legacy of commitment and warmth. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Tawny (Seth), Blaze (Rachel), Payton (Alex), Tylee (Reed), Mason, Kobe, and Riley, along with her great-grandchildren, Kase and Randi, who brought her endless joy. Also left to honor her memory is her brother-in-law, Dale (Sonja) Thimjon.
Even as we gather to honor her memory, we feel the profound absence left by her beloved husband Duane, along with her parents, Reuben and Lenore (Dammann) Bladow and brother, Dean Bladow. Carol died of a broken heart, but her spirit is now at peace as she reunites with them in her heavenly home.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, as we reflect on the beautiful moments shared and the countless ways she enriched our lives. Carol Thimjon was a remarkable woman, and she will forever be missed deeply but lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A Memorial in Carol's honor will be held at Vertin Munson Funeral Home on Friday, December 12, 2025. Visitation will take place 1 PM - 3 PM and her Memorial Service will begin at 3 PM. Pastor Al Werth will officiate.
In place of flowers, plants, or monetary offerings, the Thimjon family respectfully requests that memorials be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, or a charity of your choice.
