Carol "Polly" Tonini

Carol "Polly" Tonini passed away on May 26, 2023, at the age of 85. The days leading up to her death were filled with visits and phone calls from dear friends and family which had her laughing and reminiscing until the end. She was at peace to pass on her own terms, in her own home surrounded by those she loved.
Polly was born in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Oakwood High School. She married Bill Tonini and moved to Norcross, GA in 1971 where they raised their family and made many enduring friendships. After her husband Bill died, she married William "Bill" Focke and moved to Maine in 1992. Following her retirement from Amica Mutual Insurance Company, Polly opened and operated Outsource Unlimited in Bar Harbor, Maine for many years. She will be laid to rest beside her husband Bill Tonini at R.T. Patterson Cemetery in Lilburn, GA.
Polly is survived by her daughter Susan (Jeff) Howard of Johns Creek, GA and their children Nicholas and Kayla Howard. She is also survived by her two sons, David Tonini of Ellsworth, ME, and Steven (Nancy) Tonini of Grayson, GA and their children Jacquelyn and Cole. Polly was blessed with two step-grandchildren, Stephen Hootselle and Jessica (Seth) Holbrook and their son Calvin.
Polly was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, William "Bill" Tonini, parents Jack and Thelma Evans, two brothers Jack "Sonny" Evans and Joseph "JD" Evans, second husband, William "Bill" Focke and daughter in-law, Patricia Butler Tonini.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mount Desert Police Association. Through their "Good Morning Project," they placed daily phone calls to Polly for over 7 years to check on her well-being. Polly's family is so thankful for their commitment and dedication to the citizens of the MDI community. Checks can be dropped off at the Northeast Harbor Police Department or mailed to P.O.
