Carol Vander Kelen Harty, age 94, passed away on November 18, 2025, at the Glenview, Illinois home she shared with her daughter, Jenny. Born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on August 19, 1931, Carol was the beloved daughter of the late Rose Tease and Alvin Vander Kelen.
Carol married Thomas Harty on June 23, 1956. Together, they built a life in Neenah, Wisconsin, Westport, Connecticut, and Northbrook, Illinois, until Tom's passing in 1994. Carol's legacy lives on through her four daughters: Mary (Paul) Harty-Hill, Ann (Christa) Harty, Patty White, and Jennifer Harty. She was a proud grandmother to Amanda White, Allison (Noah) Polcyn, Brian White, Maggie (Jacob) Klever, and Tommy (Halle) Hill, and a cherished great-grandmother to Peyton, Elaina, Josie, and Rylee. Carol is also survived by her nephew, Paul (Nancy) Vander Kelen. She was preceded in death by her brother, Millard, and sister-in-law, Mercedes.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated caregivers and the support provided by Always Best Care and Suncrest Hospice. Special appreciation is given to Dr. Aron Feinberg, whose compassionate care and kindness will always be remembered.
Carol took immense pride in her Belgian and adopted Irish heritages. She was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan, bravely attending the legendary Ice Bowl in 1967 and celebrating the team's many championships. Egg Harbor, Wisconsin, was her beloved retreat, where she enjoyed all that Door County had to offer, especially its breathtaking sunsets.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday, November 24, 2025 at 11:30 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1775 Grove St., Glenview, Illinois. Interment will be private at Allouez Catholic Cemetery, Green Bay, Wisconsin.
In keeping with Carol's wishes, family and friends are encouraged to honor her memory by performing a charitable act.
