AKWESASNE – Carol C. White, 82, unexpectedly passed away Saturday evening, November 8, 2025 at Massena Hospital.
Carol was born November 22, 1942 in Akwesasne, the daughter of the late Howard and Charlotte (Thomas) Cole. She first attended schools in Bombay before graduating from Salmon River Central School. She later graduated from Mater Dei College and through night and weekend courses achieved her degree from St. Lawrence University. On December 26, 1964, she married Ronald White at the Hogansburg Methodist Church, he predeceased her on April 16, 2020.
Carol was the librarian for Akwesasne Library and Cultural Center for 30 years and will fondly be remembered as the "Book Mobile Lady." After her retirement, she volunteered for IAK HIH SOH THA Lodge, later working there for a short time. Carol was deeply committed to her family and followed all their activities. She enjoyed caring for her lawn, playing bingo, visiting the casino, and attending events at the Legion.
Carol is survived by her children, Robert White (Danielle Oakes) and Rhonda LaFrance, all of Akwesasne; her grandchildren, Evan and Chantelle White, Karina (Jacob) Martin, Kaeli (Ron) Kleinbach, Kassidy and Kameron LaFrance; her great grandchildren, Ranakarahawi "Pierce" White, Konwaneronkwa "Harmony" White, Tehioweratase "Phillip" White, and Chandler Martin; her brother, Simon (Dorothy) Cole of Akwesasne; her godchildren, Warren Jr., Randy, Sheryl, and Robert Conners and Stephanie Van Avery Drumma; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Kevin LaFrance; her godson, Jeff Conners; her brothers, Louis James in infancy, Joseph "Dust", and Gerald "Wishe", and Kerney Cole; her sisters, Charlene Cole and Claudia Martin.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where friends may call Thursday from 1-3:00PM and 6-8:00 PM and Friday beginning at 11:00 AM until the time of the services at 1:00 PM.
