Carol Jean "Carter" Williamson

Carol Jean Carter Williamson age 79, of Cerro Gordo, formerly of Tabor City, passed away Thursday , February 19, 2026 at the Angel House Hospice Care Center in Whiteville, NC surrounded by her family. She was born September 7, 1946 to Edward and Evelyn Carter.

Carol is survived by her children, Chris Williamson (Jennifer) of Pinehurst, and Angie Williamson Benton (Rick) of Cerro Gordo, six grandchildren, Nicholas Williamson (Angel), Trey Benton (Lacey), Cody Benton (Leah), Cole Benton (Bella), Peyton Williamson (Lila) and Chase Benton, her two new great grandchildren Baker Benton & Emerson Kate Benton, and her brother Ken Carter (Kay) of Wilmington, NC.

In addition to her husband Walter Williamson, she was preceded in death by her parents Edward & Evelyn Carter.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, defined by her roles as a mother and grandmother. She was a woman who never missed an opportunity to tell those around her how much they mattered.

Special thanks are given to Kaley Smith, Reagan Nance, Christie Bowen, and Olivia Cribb, along with the Angel House hospice team. The love and dignity they showed her during her journey did not go unnoticed and meant the world to her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to Cerro Gordo Baptist Church, 257 Church Street, Cerro Gordo, NC 28430 and Angel House Hospice Care Center, 206 Warrior Trail Road, Whiteville, NC 28472.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Cerro Gordo Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m., prior to the service.
