Carol Jean Zirngibl, 95, passed away on December 27 at Prairie Pointe Memory Care in Altoona, WI.
She was born on February 25, 1929 in Antigo, WI, to Henry and Mabel (Miller) Kreger. She attended UW-Stevens Point for two years where she met Raymond A. Zirngibl. They were married on September 3, 1949 in Antigo, then moved to Milwaukee. Carol worked at a candy factory, Walden Book Store, and Mount Mary College where she was a receptionist and switchboard operator for 28 years before retiring at the age of 88. In 2018, Carol sold her house of over 50 years and moved to the Meadows Senior Living Apartments in Eau Claire to be near her youngest son John and his family.
Carol cherished spending time with family and friends and found great joy in traveling, bowling, playing cards, and excelling at cooking and baking. Her Thanksgiving feasts were "out of this world." She was a woman of faith and an active parish member at St. Margaret Mary in Milwaukee and a parishioner of St. James the Greater in Eau Claire.
She will be dearly missed.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Linda (Eric Sorensen) Zirngibl of Marengo and Carolann Zirngibl of Madison; son, John (Tami) Zirngibl of Eau Claire; daughters-in-law, Kathie Zirngibl of Boulder, MT and Dena Zirngibl of Rochester Hills, MI; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Maxine; brother, Roger; husband; sons, David and William; daughter-in-law, Susanne; son-in-law, Don Larson; six sisters-in-law; and nine brothers-in-law.
The family would like to thank River Pines Rehab, Prairie Pointe Memory Care, St. James Parish and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate and skilled care.
