Carole Leffingwell, 91, of Girard, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
Born in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada on August 16, 1934, she was the daughter of the late George and Madge Burns Wedsworth.
Carole dedicated over 20 years of service as an administrative secretary in the Girard School District, where she was known for her professionalism, kindness, and steady presence. She was a devoted member of the Girard Presbyterian Church, Koinonia of Erie County, the Girard American Legion Auxiliary, and a founding member of the West County Women’s Business Association - an organization that reflected her commitment to community and women’s leadership.
In her younger years, Carole was an avid badminton player, participating in tournaments throughout Canada. She and her husband were avid golfers and enjoyed playing in many local leagues, including the “Odd Couples” at Elk Valley Golf Course. She also cherished her time wintering in Wildwood, Florida, where she enjoyed the warmth, friendship, and relaxation that it brought.
Above all, Carole’s greatest joy was her family. Her love and pride for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were ever present and deeply felt.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Leffingwell; her brother G. Alan Wedsworth, and his wife Dorothy.
Carole is survived by her daughter, Patricia (John) Mikovich; two sons, Robert (Jill) Cartmell and John Cartmell; grandchildren, Allison (Clay) Brocious, Jennifer (Tim) Fails and Mathew Mikovich; and several great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
Carole will be remembered for her warmth, faith, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
