Carole Macklem Obituary

Carole Macklem
Carole Joan (Methner) Macklem was called home to be with her Lord and savior on October 20, 2024. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt.
Carole was born to Leon and Helen (Cottrell) Methner on June 25th, 1935. Carole had many fond memories of growing up on the farm in Beaverton, MI. She would talk about riding her pony Trigger and her dog Laddie. She enjoyed time with her friends at the movie theater watching Roy Rogers & Dale Evans and The Lone Ranger While in school she was in cheerleading, band, basketball, and graduated valedictorian of her class in 1953.
On November 8th 1953, she married the love of her life Lee Duane Macklem. Together, they shared many years filled with love and memories, until he preceded her in death. After high school Carole worked at Robinson Industries before taking on the role of mother. And, later as a Social Worker before retiring as a homemaker.
Carole was a lifelong member of the Community of Christ Church. She served the lord wholeheartedly. Carole loved going to garage sales. She would map them all out a couple days ahead of time so she knew where to go first. She was never known to pass one by. She had a large collection of dolls and loved going to doll and antique shows. Most of all, Carole loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son: Scott (Renee) Macklem; grandchildren: Penny (Michael) Grzenia, Jeremy (Tracy) Eagle. Lindsey (Patrick) Macklem, and Sarah Macklem; great-grandchildren: Seth, Logan, Sophia, Nathanial, and August; siblings: Hugh (Barbara) Methner of Midland, Jerry Methner of Sault St. Marie, and Wayne (Betty) Methner of Beaverton; son-in-law: Gary Rigg; brother-in-law: Bill Macklem; sisters-in-law: Nancy Macklem, Elizabeth Macklem and Shirley Crawford; along with several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Leon and Helen; daughter: Wendy Rigg; in-laws: Gerald Macklem and Alice (Davis) Macklem; brothers-in-law: Edward Gale Macklem, Bernard Macklem, Gary Macklem; and sisters-in-law: Sharon Macklem, Alice Thering, Virginia George, and Lucille Imperi.
Our family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at North Woods Nursing Center for all of their kindness.
Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be planned at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home. www.hallkokotovichfuneralhome.com
