Carole Newton
1944 - 2025
Carole Ann Newton, age 81, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025.
Carole was born in 1944 to Arnold and Gladys Jacobson in Grand Rapids, MN. Carole was confirmed at the age of 15 and was active in the church choir and Luther League. She attended area schools, including Central School, Murphy Elementary, and Grand Rapids Jr and Sr High. Carol and Ronald Beier were married at Zion Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, MN. She sold Avon and worked at Harben's Clothing Store during this time.
On December 12, 1975, Carole and David Newton were married and together they built a home on the Golf Course Road. Carole was a talented entrepreneur, running her own staining and varnishing business called "Wood Workers." Her artistic flair showed in everything she did, from her woodworking projects to the beautiful macramé creations she made and sold. She returned to school in 1981, attending Hibbing Vocational Technical School earning her dental assistant degree, where she worked until her retirement.
Carole and David enjoyed traveling to Mazatlán, Mexico for the winter. Carole loved the summertime and cherished moments spent at the beach. Her greatest treasure, however, was her grandson Adam, with whom she shared a special bond, guiding him in his religious education and upbringing. Christmas was also a highlight of her year, as she delighted in making traditional lefse, sugar cookies, and English Toffee for her family and friends. After she retired, Carole started selling her Christmas sweets including shipping lefse to customers in several states.
Carole was preceded in death by parents; husband, David; stepson, Kent Newton; sisters, Donna (Duane) Ranger and Marilyn (Al) Kolp; and beloved dogs, Taz, Chelsea, and Mazie.
She is survived by her sons, Bradley (Amy) Beier, Jeffrey (Sandra) Beier; stepchildren, Vicki (Richard) Reineck, Mike (Holly) Newton; significant other, Dick Holter; grandchildren, Adam, Brandon, Becky, Erich, Natalie, Michelle, Christofer, Crystal, Brittany, Caleb, and many Great-Grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, MN followed by the 2:00 pm memorial service. Rev. Paul Svingen will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carole's name to Essentia Health Itasca Hospice 115 10th Avenue NE Deer River, MN 56636. She will be deeply missed, but her memories and love will warmly linger in our hearts.
