Carole Stiven Kinsland, age 89, of Roselle, Illinois, died on December 21, 2025. She was the beloved wife Kenneth J. Kinsland (deceased) and Robert B. Stiven, Jr.; devoted mother of Susan (Dennis) Buchholtz, Janet (Bernard Seewald) Stiven, Donald Stiven (deceased), David Stiven (deceased), Craig (Theresa) Stiven and Judy Stiven; dear grandmother of Robbie (John) Stuenkel, Christy Vickers, Mandy Vickers, Thomas (Jennifer) Seewald , Natalie (Jacob) Weatherred, and Paul Vickers, and great-grandmother of Hayley (Jon) Abdo, Jack Stuenkel, Benjamin, Adam and Liam Seewald, Isaiah, Naomi and Luke Weatherred, and great-great grandmother of Ezra Abdo; and dear friend to many.
Carole had a lifelong love for children and always dreamed of having a large family. That dream was fulfilled as she was blessed to be the mother of six children. She shared with them the things she cherished most—her deep faith, her curious and adventuresome spirit, her love of reading, and her joy in spending time at the beach.
Guided by a strong and enduring faith, Carole nurtured her spiritual life through regular Bible study and active participation in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where she was a devoted member for more than 60 years.
Her love for children naturally shaped her career as an elementary school teacher. Over 34 years in Addison School District #4, she touched countless young lives and left a lasting impact on her students and colleagues.
The beach was Carole’s happy place. Each summer, she could be found settled into her beach chair with a good book in hand. She especially treasured time spent along the shores of Lake Erie and the Gulf of Mexico.
Carole’s adventuresome spirit carried her across the United States and around the world. She held dear the memories of her travels with family, particularly special trips to Europe, including a recent visit to Ireland.
She delighted in life’s simple pleasures, and apple pancakes, ice cream, popcorn, and sweet treats were among her favorite indulgences.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Addison, Illinois. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Fairmount-Willow Hills Memorial Park, 9100 Archer Ave, Willow Springs, Illinois 60480. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1213 W. Army Trail Blvd., Addison, IL 60101.
