Caroline Kay Bellard Duplechain, age 73, was born on August 14, 1951, in Church Point, Louisiana and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at her niece’s residence surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished forever.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Caroline Kay Bellard Duplechain will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell. Father Brian Taylor and Father Taj Glodd will concelebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and burial will follow in the St. Bridget Church Cemetery in Lawtell, Louisiana.
The pallbearers will be Chad Duplechain, Shawn Duplechain, Jeremy Duplechain, Lance Duplechain, Gaven Morse and Hank Enete. The honorary pallbearer will be Ty Berard.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary will be recited by Father Taj Glodd at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home .
Caroline dedicated over 20 years of her life as a teacher's aide. Her commitment to education reflected her concern for others and her dedication to making an impact on their lives.
A remarkable cook, Caroline, took great joy in preparing meals for her family, turning every gathering into a celebration. A lifelong parishioner of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell, Caroline's strong Catholic faith guided her life and instilled in her family the values of love, compassion, and service.
Caroline’s pride and joy blossomed within her family. She was immensely proud of her children: sons, Chad Duplechain (Kelly); Shawn Duplechain (Cindy); Jeremy Duplechain (Kelly); and Lance Duplechain (Shawn-Renee), alongside her daughter, Amanda Morse (Gaven). The love she held for her family extended to her 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, J.T. Bellard, and her sister, Norma Serio, and a host of nieces and nephews who adored her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Charles Duplechain; her parents, Elvin Bellard and Alida Meche Bellard; her brothers, Leroy Bellard and Kenneth Bellard; and her sister, Joyce Brasseaux.
Caroline will be fondly remembered for her unwavering faith, warmth, and love for her family, traits that will continue to inspire those who knew her. May she rest in peace.
