Caroline McKalen Obituary

CAROLINE ANN McKALEN, age 99, entered Eternal Life on Oct. 24, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (nee Furlan); sister of the late Ann McKalen; niece of the late Magdalene Furlan and Joseph Sasony. She was a long time member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and East Shore Park Club. She graduated from Ursuline College, worked for 36 years as an analytic inorganic chemist for BF Goodrich, contributed to three patents and numerous scientific articles. She excelled in a field not common for women at the time. In retirement she assisted in occasional projects for BF Goodrich, volunteered at Euclid Hospital, helped individuals with GED and tutored students in science. She expressed her value for Catholic education by providing scholarship money for students interested in Catholic education. Her interests included playing golf and traveling, where she was able to visit all 50 states. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland, 6085 Parkland Blvd., Mayfield Hts., Ohio 44124 or Hospice of the Western Reserve. Mass of Christian Burial Friday Oct. 31 at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, East 200 St. and Lake Shore Blvd. in Euclid, where friends may call from 9-10 AM at Church. Interment All Souls Cemetery.
