Services for Carolyn Barnette, 84, of Grapevine, Texas, will be held at 11 AM Thursday October 2, 2025, at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, Texas. Interment will occur at 1PM at Oakwood Cemetery in Jefferson, Texas. Carolyn passed away September 24, 2025 at her residence in Solstice Senior Living in Grapevine, Texas, with her husband, Glenn Weaver, at her bedside.

Carolyn was born July 12, 1941, in Jefferson, Texas to James and Francis Smith. Carolyn graduated from Jefferson High School in 1959. She moved to Longview shortly thereafter, where she and her husband, Larry Barnette, raised their children, Lance, Dana, and Jason. They owned various businesses in Longview, including Barnette Distributors, Longview Adult Day Activity Center, and Southern Influence Homes. She and her family were members of Mobberly Baptist Church during those years where she made many special friends.

In her later years, Carolyn moved to Grapevine, Texas, where she married Glenn Weaver, a fellow resident at Solstice Senior Living. Carolyn was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church at the time of her passing. She was very pleased that her husband Glenn was baptized at Woodland Hills earlier this year.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Glenn Weaver, two sons, Jason Barnette and his wife Megan, Lance Barnette and his wife Charlinda, and a daughter, Dana Worley and her husband, Tom. She is predeceased by a son, Shannon, who died shortly after birth, her twin sister Marolyn, and the father of her children, Larry Barnette. She also had seven other sisters and three brothers.

Carolyn loved gardening, playing with her cat Evie, and visiting with her five grandchildren, Corvin Barnette (Michelle), Mara Lucchetti (Joey), Drew Brewer (Josh), Morgan Worley (Charles), and Rachel Worley. She enjoyed that all her grandchildren were able to visit with her for a final time recently when she began hospice care. In addition, she had many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Carolyn requested that contributions be made to Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Longview. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, October 1 from 6 - 8 PM at Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
